2 oz package of dried Ancho Chili peppers.  Also known as pasilla or dried poblano peppers, these chile pods are one of the most important in Mexican cooking.  Ancho chilis are often used in moles and as a seasoning for tamale meat.  You can also crush a few pods and add to soups, Mexican food dishes, and sauces, or add a little water to rehydrate the chilis and use them in place of fresh peppers. Ancho chiles rate around 1000 — 1500 Scoville Heat Units.
