Salsa Chamoy is a unique, savory sauce that is traditionally used in Mexico to sprinkle on fruit or as a condiment for potato chips.  It has a tangy flavor that combines saltiness, sweetness and heat that comes from a combination of apricots, salt, citric acid, sugar and red pepper.  Chamoy is thought to be a Mexican adaptation of Japanese pickled sour plums (umeboshi).
